Monster Library

The library was starving. There was a time when people came through the front doors willingly. Downloading into fresh minds was bliss.

Then the people stopped coming. They had better things to do. Video games and television turned minds into mashed potatoes.

If people wouldn’t come willingly, then the library would hijack them. The detour sign was pointed at the front doors. The library laughed in the bright sun under clear blue skies.

A bicycle rode up the walk and stopped. The biker stood and looked in amazement at the library. He collapsed on the ground. The open library wept.
