A Spot of Tea

The patrol car pulled off the side of the road. Gravel crunched under the wheels. The rotund sheriff waddled over, holding a jelly doughnut.

“What do we have, Wilson?”

Wilson nodded toward a young woman wearing a leather bomber jacket and a bright, colorful scarf. “Mrs. Henderson says her car broke down. She got out to try to get more bars on her cell when she saw something up in the trees over there.”

An investigator snapped photos up the hill. “Well, what’s up there?” Jelly squirted out the side of the doughnut.

“It’s your grandma’s silver tea setting.”
