I’ve known Cat since kindergarten, but we haven’t seen each other much lately.
Life. The to-do list grows and time shrinks. I need to remind myself often to measure quality rather than accomplishments.
I shouted in the screen door, held on to her fierce hug. Dinner was steak and potatoes, our conversation free-ranging. Our voices danced with delight, the warm glow of friendship cozied up to our hearts.
Jack retreated to the kitchen to do the dishes and turned on a radio.
Cat stopped mid-sentence, turned, and asked, “Do you remember this song?”
Stunned, I nodded, blinking my eyes clear.
