Woman—daughter. Adult—child. A summer wedding filled with happy smiles and grandma’s tears. Tall—short. High heels—barefoot.
Bar clangs down on the elevator. Miners turn on headlamps. The car lurches, accelerates in a downward rush.
Lean—baby. Blue—pink. A reception hall buzzed with talk, laughter. Wedding entourage introduction received ovation. Short skirt—long dress. Graceful—toddler.
Red eyes stare from soot-stained faces. Welcome to the underworld. A hacking cough. I’m fine. How’s your pa?
Dancer—first steps. The band struck up. More laughter. Lights dimmed and the party entered full swing. Composition—contrast. Beautiful.
Another shift begins.
