Underground London

Precisely at five, her little alarm chirped, and Clair left the law office and headed to the Tube. Her routine never changed.

She knew something wasn’t right when she reached the platform. Where were the crowds? And the train—it wasn’t hers, and it was pulling away.

Clair scanned the platform again. Nothing about this was right.

A man stood close by. “Hi,” she said. “Do happen to know what time it is?”

The man didn’t say anything. He just stared at her mouth.

Clair rolled her eyes and walked away.

The man shrugged and signed to himself. Cool beans.
