Josefina got off the bus at 4th. She scanned the street looking for the meeting place. The walls were covered with graffiti. “This can’t be right,” she said. She bit her lower lip.
There was nothing that looked like a popular restaurant. Nothing looked open. She crossed the street quickly. Now that the sound of the bus’s engine had gone, she realized just how eerily quiet everything was. Nothing moved.
Josefina dug in her purse, found her phone. Several texts blinked urgently. She swiped.
Daniel: “Don’t go! Stay home. Lock doors!”
Rosa: “Where r u? OMG!”
Daniel: “downtown zombie invasion!”
